Background

The U.S. – Mexico Foundation for Science (FUMEC) and Innovation for Science Education (INNOVEC) in collaboration with the Mexican Ministry of Public Education and the Nuevo León Ministry of Education, with support of several foundations, companies and international organisms have organized three International Conferences on Science in Basic Education. The topics of these Conferences have been:

  • 2001. Research Related to Science Education: The Role of Science Academies.

  • 2003. Social and Economic Impact of Research based Science Education.

  • 2005. The Impact of Training and Professional Development of Teachers in the Success of Inquiry Based Science Teaching Systems in Basic Education.

The Fourth International Conference on Science and Education will be held in Monterrey during the Universal Forum of Cultures which will take place from September to December 2007,and its main topic will be: Science and Well-Being: from Amazement to Citizenship.
